Happy New Year! Welcome 2023!

January 18, 2023 by Clifford & Shelley Leave a Comment

Here is hoping 2023 will be a healthy year for all.  Many struggled through 2022 with health issues so looking forward to a new year with renewed health.

Last year a new addition was added to our family.  His name is Cosmo.  He is one years old.  He was a barn cat which he was having a hard time fitting in.  He set his sights on me, knowing if he worked hard enough I would give in, providing him with the type of luxury he felt was more to his liking.  He adjusted to being a house cat immediately.

Of course the introduction of a new brother for CJ had its challenges.  CJ prefers being by himself.  There was hissing and fights to start with.  Still experiencing the odd fight although Cosmo has learnt his boundaries where CJ is concerned.  CJ and Cosmo are enjoying each other’s company now.  They like to look out the window together.

With patience and slowly integrating activities that would have the two of them interacting with each other the relationship was taken to a new level for the better.  Cosmo has tried all of CJ’s beds and for the most part CJ shares.  They each have their own eating area and their own cat tree to sleep and play on.   Also each has their own litter box.  I am proud of my boys as they seem to be sharing all of this even though they don’t need too.

Watching CJ and Cosmo work out their differences, learn to share and care about the other has me wondering why as humans we find adapting to change so hard.  Sharing our day or an activity with others can bring new experiences.  Open our minds to different ways of viewing things.  Even bring about new ideas for our own life path.  Having someone to share the ups and downs of life whether it is a friend, family member or someone we meet one time.  Opening our heart and letting others in.  This is something not only to think about but also act on.  It is the perfect time to start, a new year and new beginnings.
